True Story;
When we were children, my mother and father left one day, to visit relatives in another city an hour or two away. They went to play bingo at a church. My brother Andy, meanwhile, was thrown to the ground by a bully, and his collar bone was broken. Around that same moment, my mother stood up in the middle of the game, and announced to my father, "Andy has been hurt!" They immediately left and stared driving home.

I would like to share my experience on this mental telepathy, it is widely rumored that mental telepathy is a bridge between mother and kids.
This sounds true to me especially if one of my kids is not feeling well. While my daughter was studying in Tech Uni Berlin, I was so upset and worried. I called her and she was, sick hoarse throat and fever. I told her to go soon as possible to see her doctor.
Later that afternoon, I got an sms that she will be observed  in the  intensive station of the Charité Hospital because of lung embolie. She recuperated after one week, her doctor told her that she came just in time.
With this posting I would like to know if you have some similar experiences, too.

Mental telepathy is also associated with extra-sensory perception, wishful thinking, clairvoyance and the like.

Yes.  I was born with half of my tongue is dark. My mother always told me to be wary of my words, since she called it la-ug dila/bâbâ.

Back to mental telepathy;This mental consciousness is a sort of energy that travels and reaches a certain destination. It could be a mother´s awareness that something happened to her child or a simple wish to see somebody longtime unheared, a lost friend or lover then suddenly the telephone rings or you bumped to this person.
Mental telepathy is a wish accompanied with a strong desire, can it be this desire puts extra energy? Could it be that mental telepathy is stronger to persons who had emotional ties or relationship? Why can we influence other with these mental thoughts?  Sad to say science has no clue to this phenomenon.
