What is Mensa?
Mensa is an international society in which the sole criterion for membership is a score at or above the 98th percentile on any of a number of standardized IQ tests. Mensa is a not-for-profit organization whose main purpose is to serve as a means of communication and assembly for its members. Qualification may be determined by Mensa or by submitting properly certified evidence of prior qualification. Mensa Philippines is an emerging national Mensa under the auspices of Mensa International Ltd. The society has over 100,000 members in over 80 countries worldwide. Mensa's aims are - to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity; to encourage research in the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence; and to promote stimulating and social opportunities for its members.
Mensa provides a forum for intellectual exchange among its members. Its activities include the exchange of ideas by lectures, discussions, journals, special-interest groups, and local, regional, national, and international gatherings; the investigations of members' opinions and attitudes; and assistance to researchers, inside and outside Mensa in projects dealing with intelligence or Mensa.
Mensa Philippines is recognized as an emerging Mensa under Mensa International.
