SI man busted for beating dog to death

A depraved Staten Island brute was busted yesterday for viciously beating his family’s helpless Jack Russell Terrier to death in front of his horrified wife authorities said.
Nashbert Smith, 28, a registered sex offender, allegedly flew into a rage after the dog defecated inside his apartment on Vanderbilt Avenue near Prince Street on Wednesday.
Before killing Lady, Smith allegedly called his wife Diamond Smith, and ordered her to come home. Upon her return at 4 p.m., a crazed Smith began torturing the pooch, grabbing Lady by her leash and repeatedly slamming the dog against the walls of the hallway and the kitchen, causing blood to splatter all over the floor, law enforcement sources said.
“F---k the dog,†he snarled, while savagely choking the beloved pet, law enforcement sources said.
Meanwhile, his wife desperately dialed 911 but when responding officers arrived it was too late.
Lady was rushed to a local veterinarian hospital and pronounced dead, officials said.
A necropsy found the dog died of internal bleeding, brain trauma and bruised lungs and Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, according to a spokesperson for Staten Island DA Daniel Donovan.
Smith has been arrested several times before, including for assault and drug possession.
