Carlito C. Amalla [Youth Category]
Carlito symbolizes a new breed of progressive Agusan Manobo tribe. He maintains his distinct culture and at the same time blends in the modern technology.
In 1998, Carlito offered his services to the University of the Philippines Ugnayan ng Pahinungod where he became actively involved in the Roving Library Program. Carlito toured the communities in the UP campus carrying a bag with children's books to teach reading to the out-of-school children and school children after school. More than 300 children received tutorials in math, reading, writing, paining, dancing, and storytelling. Being an artist, Carlito blen comics performances into his teaching which entices the children to learn as well as enjoy the activities.
He was granted awards from UP, UST, United Nations Youth Volunteers, National Commission on Culture and Arts.
