In Zambia, and several other southern African countries, some men say they rape children in the belief that having sex with a virgin can cure Aids.
Some 20% of Zambians are HIV positive.
This has prompted a group of MPs and women rights activists to call for child rapists to be castrated.

Italian bid to castrate rapists Pisanu: No link between nationality and criminality
Italy's far-right Northern League has presented a bill to castrate convicted rapists, after a series of rapes in Italy by suspected illegal immigrants.
The bill says chemical or surgical castration of offenders is necessary to remove a social disease which is a threat to life and public safety.
They were part of a bill that also increases jail terms for incest and paedophilia, and criminalises any attempt to justify paedophilia.
Anyone propagating such a view is subject to a prison term of up to two years.
The same sentence will be applicable to anyone attempting to seduce a child under 15 years of age over the internet.
The legislation must still pass the senate before taking effect. BBC
