We had verizon before, not impressed with their service.

So far AT&T is the best, in my opinion. They have a very generous family plan service.

Well, glad to hear it Bran. I guess my friend wasn't just lucky. And also sometimes while we were talking, her line just cut off for some reasons she's gone. And when I call back I ask her does she have full signal and she said, yes. Uh, just strange to me :(

you are right, "sleek kaayo" but start traveling outside your city boundaries... you will loose your connection.  Example... if you are traveling in San Diego area, certain part of San Diego city areas don't have phone connection. I love I-phone but it has a lousy connection.   Here's what I hate.. when I-phone became public it was around $300.00 plus.  Within a year (or less) or so it was reduced to $100.00 dollars less on its original price.  A lot of people who bought it at the beginning was pissed.

yes Princesssa...they were so pissed. All their early morning rise just to get in line to the stores on the first day of release was all for nothing :(

Bran, I think you never been to places that has a poor connection of AT&T yet, like my friend from NYC, every time she comes and visits me in my area, she has poor connections that's why she encouraged her husband to get Verizon Wireless.

Princesssa....I was talking about the billing statement of the i-phone.
My verizon statements are perfectly fine, just 2 pages. I still don't trust paying bills online. You'll never know, i'm just in the safe side.

I have, Beth. All over Ohio, pennsylvania, New York City, Syracuse, up-state New York and New Jersey.

We've had AT&T (former Cingular) for over 4 years and have had no problems with them concerning connection.

When we were in Disney World in 2004, we had full connection as well. And when we were driving around the states, we didn't have problems.

I guess your friend lives in an area where there is a lack of service, but hopefully that should be alleviated as AT&T increases its connection.

All the best,

Perhaps its a problem in the west coast. I've had no problems with AT&T. I am currently living in the northwestern pennsylvania region; and have had no problems in connection.

Hey, that's great!

It's probably my area does have poor AT&T connections because she lives in NYC.

Not that just. Verizon is a conglomerate; and its gruesome with its surcharges and off-minute charges. I've had experiences with this on first hand account.

With AT&T we have unlimited hours as well as unlimited text ability.

Verizon is a different management from Verizon Wireless. When we were using both few years ago, yes they do have rediculous fees here and there.
So we cut off Verizon for our landline and use cablevision instead, now we have unlimited calls for US and Canada.

We do leave as it is for our Verizon Wireless for mobile use. And so far it's been doing pretty good. As long as we don't pass the limit of our mins. as a free part of the package, we're doing just fine, $42.00/month.

AT&T bought off Cingular. Strategic corporate take over.

Its better that way, as in Cingular customers will have a greater umbrella and benefit form AT&T's rates, as well as its international coverage. Verizon is limited in that aspect.

Bran, sorry di ay kay akong friend sa NYC that I've been talking about, T-Mobile di ay to iyaha. Sus sorry jud ha. I just look up her text msgs karon. Correction di ay, sorry ha.

And yes, you're right Verizon Wireless doesn't have good international coverage. I paid .25 per send and receive text message from PI. They do have unlimited offering for additional $10 bucks. But I don't send text msgs. to PI that much from my mobile, I only use chikka, it's free.

Beth, do you also use the $5 phone cards to call PI?
My parents always use those to call back home, hahaha, i always laugh and smile whenever im in the table hearing my dad call home because you can tell when the minutes are timing out. He'll start to talk real fast and then after that while in the middle of a sentence, he'll open another card, lol.

Gotta say man, I love watching Filipino OFWs talk to family back home.

Ma lingaw-lingaw.

Like I said, when we switched to Cablevision for our landline, they have an offering of $19.95 flat fee to international calls with 250 minutes regardless what line I call either mobile or landline. So I took it and i'm very happy since then. If I exceed 250 mins.then they will charge me another 19.95 but so far I haven't done it yet.

Sige sige,

I know what you are saying, Dong!  The moment the phonecard operators says "you have one minute remaining to make this call", that's when we increase the speed of our conversation.  The only problem with these $5 or $10 phonecards, sometimes you got cut off and the next time you use it, dako na kaayo gi minus sa imong minutes.  I use Sarimanok of ABS CBN.  That way, I can only use a little here and there minutes to call home.

haha, igsoon, tinuud bitaw!

I remember my parents always asked me to go and get the 'tellibabad' phone card from our local filipino store. Then one time when I bought it, dili ning work--apparently the company closed. lol! I was like wtf? Now we just get Smart Card or Call Asia card at the local Seven Eleven.

Man, i gotta love the indians who own the local seven eleven because they always ask me what country am i calling to. I joke around with them and tell them, "Guess". Hahaha. Yea I'm already digressing from the topic but hey! o well, lol.

Beth, those are really nice rates, man. Do they have like under the table surcharges or no? Thanks, igsoon.

ilang minutes man pod na 5$ na card diay?

Depende, some cards that are $5 allow 50 minutes, then there are cards that allow only 30 minutes.
The card that we use only allows 30 minutes so we usually buy packs of cards, lol. The annoying part is that whenever we call home it takes forever jud to connect. At least 2-3 minutes is waisted just trying to connect.

But okey ra pood so long as we can get to hear our Lolo Ciano's voice :)
and ang mga pariente. Okey ra man.
