If it meant Serena ,mermaid,lets just say there's a lot of things we believe as a child and as a grown up,well we pretty much knew what is real and whats not. :)

lorelei?  i believe in it as i believe in fairies and tinker bell and peter pan.  which means that it was good for the imagination while one is growing up.  if it helps one get through childhood, believe in it, but don't live it.

Serena wore a bevy of beautiful looks in the third episode of Gossip Girl. Most notable was the Vena Cava honeycomb dress she wore in the elevator with Dan. For this particular outfit she accessorized with a Chanel belt, Ferragamo heels, and a white Botkier bag.

I believe in Jesus Christ alone. beliefs in witchcraft, mermaids, quack doctors etc are null en void.

Do you know the etiology of the mermaid, isles?  ;)

when i went to loon, bohol, i was given a tour by a town official. they took me to an old pool in loon in close proximity to a fish farm. one thing that i noticed about the pool was that it was quite dark in color (blueish green); the local official told me that the pool is deep , probably close to 50 feet deep and that the temperature in there was quite cold. he then told me that the old folklore in loon is that there are 'people' living in the pool.

absurd bitaw. i told him that the reasons why the pool is cold is that the stream that empties to the pool comes from the bukid, and the reasons why there is dark plants coming out of the pool is because of the eutrophication around the water-bed. considering the large nitrogen, and phosphorus run-offs from the farms, and human housings around the water-bed.

as for the folklore of 'mga enkanta' that live in the water, i merely smiled at his comment. di ko mo tuo ana. that in itself is a remnant of pagan worship prior to the christianization of the philippines; and some of that belief is still quite high in loon, bohol---per se the beliefs in diwatas and enkantas. why there are even some people in valencia that believe that there are enkantas in the panangatan river and in badjang springs.

in regards to the notion of mermaids, my lolo ciano (who was a fisherman, farmer, business man etc) would tell me of the old tales the valencianon fishermen would say. seeing mermaids in the night while fishing etc. then when i asked him if he believed in mermaids, my lolo ciano (a pure blooded valencianon) said to me : "ondoy, mangisda ko sa una, ahong papa ug lolo mangisda pood, pero di mi mo tuo nga naay serena sa dagat. ang Ginoo ra'y tinuod..."

My grandfather, a devotee of Senor Santo Nino, always shied us away from thinking and believing on notions of diwatas, enkantas etc.

He used to say to an old friend of his who was superstitious, "ngano mo tuo man ka sa mga enkanta , diwata? Pag tuo nga naay Usang Ginoo. Ang Ginoo naa nimo ug naa nako. Ang Ginoo mo hatag ug pan para sa atong lawas. Ang Ginoo may mo hatag ug sustensya para sa atong lawas. Ang Ginoo pood mo patay nimo ug imuha nang panahon." His friend said nothing after that.


I hold the same belief as my Lolo Ciano. :)
