hahahah kujawan pod ta nang imong i barter, Ms. Bambi oi, partner man jud!

Lin, I understand barter or trading was the means of business in bygone years especially before the Money Age.  I think mag work ni sya in smaller scale like sa mga friends but I find it hard to establish the value of the merchandise na ipag barter.  Na anad na man gud ta na naay medium of exchange which is money.

Kami mag igsoon, if we saw somebody wearing someting that we like, we offer to do trade or barter.  In most cases, kon naay ganahan akong manghud sa akong butang and they want to trade, mo agree na lang ko not because I felt na ang gi barter is commensurate to what I am giving away but because there's emotion involved - na love nko akong mga manghud.  But how do we translate that to strangers?  Hmmm, if it happened before, I guess it could happen again too.

No Grazie.....i will never do it not even for an unmoral offer.  :)..........

an exchange of goods for instance a "HOUSE" in Bohol an my small car.  Why not?

I remember in my childhood, I went with our neighbors in the town markets (tabo) they are selling cooking pot made of clay, short before closing the stores, we did that barter way.....getting other goods instead of money (camote, baldi, buwad, balanghoy, sundang and etc).....was very interesting negotiating with other people/ farmers.

I know you wouldn't, Ms. Bambi, bisan pa si Robert Redford with 1M dollars! ;D

Ay ka remember na pod ko, sa una bata pa kaayo ko, nakauban ko sa Lola sa akong Papa (my great grandmother na to sya), galukdo to sya'g usa ka taro na cookies (they call then sopas) and tinapay (kadtong crunchy kaayo na cookies man gihapon to) ug torta.  Tapos ning adto man yata mi sa Kabawan ba to sya tapos gibayluan ug paw ug karne kay ting pista man pod to.  So that was barter diay ha!

Lagi, Mr. Lindy, asa naman ka?  Unsa may atong ibayluay ani beh?

Response to Barter Question
« Reply #7 on: January 12, 2008, 09:17:21 AM »
In dealing with the barter system; one has to understand four principle factors. Counterpurchase, Compensation Arrangement, Offset and Debt-For-Nature Swap.

In counterpurchase, the participant parties sign two separate contracts that specify the goods and services to be exchanged. In this way one transaction can go forward even though the second transaction needs time. Whereas in Compensation Arrangement, One party agrees to supply technology or equipment that enables the other party to produce goods with which the price of the supplied products or technology is repaid. Offset arrangements are designed to offset the negative effects of large purchases from abroad on the current account of  a country. Ex: a country buying an air-place may demand that parts and components be acquired in the local economy. Debt-For-Nature Swaps are when firms or entities buy what are otherwise considered to be nonperforming loans at substantial discounts and return the debt to the country in exchange for the preservation of natural resources.

The Cons

1. Transactions are purely bilateral in nature and are not competitive since they squeeze out competition from a third market or specify the export market.

2. Countertrade is a second-best solution

3. Concerns regarding the valuation of countertrade transactions and with ensuring that appropriate tax payments are made.

4. “Instead of there being a double coincidence of wants, there is likely to be a want of coincidence.”

5. The ability of countries and their industries to adjust structurally to more efficient production may be restricted.

6. The 'less productive' nation states would become inherently enslaved to the 'more productive' states.

7. Escalations of regional, border, and intercontinental wars would erupt for access to key precious resources in the inter-continental barter/countertrade system.

It wouldn't work. That's what our brilliant economists would say, probably.

Bitaw tinuod dili tanan mag work sa Barter but still we can save kon dili nato kini walaon. Even here in North America we have Barter Exchange. It can be a product or services ug depende kana sa inyong mahimo nga kasabutan ug kon unsa klase imo e-barter...
