Call it holiday economics again, but Filipinos would have at least three days off their working week in the coming week.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has declared Oct. 29, Monday non-working holiday as she signed Proclamation No. 1403.
The proclamation effectively declared the day off in consonance with the synchronized Sangguninag Kabataan and barangay polls across the country.
The proclamation states that: “ It is important to give the people the fullest opportunity to participate in the said elections and exercise their right to vote.â€
Two days later, as the country observes the All Saint’s Day, it’s break from work again as the day is revered as special for Filipinos.
Malacanang has earlier approved Republic Act 9492 July 25, which has set the regular holidays and nationwide special holidays in the country. RA 9492 has declared November 1 Thursday a nationwide special holiday.
The act rationalized the celebration of national holidays while it amended particular sections of the earlier Administrative Code of 1987.
The following day, All Souls’ Day is again a holiday. This is through Proclamation 1211 signed by the President last January 10 of this year.
The proclamation declared November 2 (Friday) along with April 7 (Saturday), December 24 (Monday) while again authorizing June 11 as non-working throughout the country.
