The beleaguered mayor of Albur town is pinning hopes on a reversal of the Supreme Court verdict that upheld his disqualification as candidate in the May 2007 elections.
The high court's ruling also affirmed a Comelec en banc resolution ordering Ugdoracion to vacate his office.
Concurred by all 15 justices, the Supreme Court decision admonished Ugdoracion for deceiving the electorate of Albur through a misrepresentation in his certificate of candidacy (COC) stating he is qualified to run as mayor in said town.
The mayor is given until May 8 to file a motion for reconsideration at the high tribunal.
During an interview with the Chronicle, Ugdoracion expressed optimism that he will not be unseated even as the Comelec already issued a writ of execution for his removal from office.
In a separate interview, former mayor Efren Tungol said there is a remote possibility that the Supreme Court would overturn its ruling.
