yah, uwag, biga... lust, sensuality, passion...
The BACH Council Committee on Literary Arts with members from Kaliwat ni Karyapa held a part 2 of BBB (Balut, Beer, ug Balak) last Feb 14 here at the Plaza Rizal. One gets a beer and a balut if one volunteers to read or render a balak.
Our theme for that evening was "Gabii sa Gugma ug Biga." We can talk about biga, right? Talk about the lack of it or the issues regarding the word whether negative or positive in the mileau of gender sensitivity, reproductive health rights or just plain uwag. We even tapped the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA) to help us during the event. Although, wa kaabot ang funds kay 11th hour na man, diha man gihapoy moral support!
However, during the BACH Council meeting prior to the event, members from the academe, the DEP-ED and other "conservative" sectors (most came from the Heritage Section of the Council) disliked the idea. Members from the Arts Section liked it, though. There was an open debate about the use of the word biga. The original word was even, "uwag." Yesterday, we liked the word kundat! hehehe!
