Bol-anon Instant Millionaire
« on: January 21, 2010, 02:26:06 PM »
By Loy Palapos

January 10 was like any other Sunday elsewhere, except at Island City Mall. Especially in the afternoon, when those who thronged to the number one shopping mart (winner, Shopping Center of the Year-Region VII, survey by DTI and PRA) looked expectant, wistful, and vibrant. It was the day for the Grand Raffle Draw of “Instant Milyonaryo Cash Papremyo”, the finale of the P3,000,000 raffle promo of the Alturas Group of Companies (AGC), most particularly its four shopping outlets in Bohol: Alturas Supermarket, Krislyn Shop n’ Dine, Plaza Marcela, Alturas-Talibon, and Island City Mall.

The mammoth crowd that gathered at the ICM Activity Center was a cross of the haves and the have-nots, all of them expectant of winning the grand prizes. Obviously, there were those who came from the different municipalities of the Province of Bohol, to witness an annual spectacle only AGC can concoct.

Before 3PM the capacity crowd was on hand anticipating a feat. They did not go home disappointed. There were more than a hundred gift certificates given by Jollibee, KFC, WOF, Prawn Farm, Greenwich, Rai-Rai-Ken, Chowking, and D’ Buzz. The ICM Screenville parted away with several free tickets.

The affair commenced with a one-hour non-stop performance by Bohol’s number one musical group: CenterStage Band. The Street Vipers and G-on-mix provided fast-moving dance numbers. Songs were provided by Alex Balista, and the brother-sister team of Ralph and Orfieshane Quiñones. There was a more pronounced audience impact when these groups of models took the ramp in their maiden outing: Alturas Teen Models, ICM Calendar Girls, and Plaza Marcela Hunks (5 tall, brawny, and handsome young men).

But the highlight of the afternoon was the drawing of the ticket for the P1,000,000 grand prize, after drawing lots for P10,000, P50,000, and P100,000 winners. The lucky guy? Mr. David Gamutan Quibir (DGQ).

This interview took place last Thursday, January 14, where he claimed his prize at the Marketing and Public Relations Office at ICM.

DGQ: Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting.

LMP: Kadtong ticket nimo nga nadaug, diin man nimo to mapalit?

Ngano man?

Hinay-hinay basta kanunay.

DGQ: Bisag karon, makita man nato nga bisa’g sari-sari store ra, makadaginot gihapon.

There are individuals who have all the luck in the world, one of them is David G. Quibir, son of Deogracias Quibir and Consorcia Gamutan-Quibir, he is still single at 42. He finished Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in Accounting, at Divine Word College, and is neck-deep in varied businesses (warehouse leasing, retail merchandizing, etc.), which occupy most of his time. He helps manage the business of his parents: leasing of store and office spaces at CODE Building, GG Quibir Real State, and CGT General Merchandise.

But it’s not business that is the main reason for retaining his bachelorhood; he wants to be fully prepared (and his partner, too) for a married life; not to plunge into matrimony and regret later. His has an analytical mind, and he envisions married life with a woman who is also mature enough, especially as a partner in his business concerns.

All indications show he has found the right woman for him. Wedding bells will be ringing for them soon. David Quibir is not the impoverished individual who needs to hit a jackpot in order to survive. With his recent luck, he is a million-peso richer.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
