Have you heard of hospitals turning down would-be patients because of their incapacity to pay their bills? Of Doctors being lukewarm in addressing the health needs of the have-nots? Of lawyers' consultation and other fees the ordinary hoi poloi cannot afford? Of Priests requiring religious fees before rites could be performed? Of engineers declining solicitations of expertise even for a good common cause? Of accountants who are experts in the art of tax evasion? Of teachers who only impart knowledge if the price is right?
Nobody could blame them. The law of supply-and-demand is universally accepted. The better you are in any profession, the harder you are to get, for your fees may not anymore be affordable. In this so-called urban society success in a profession has only one barometer… money. If you have no money, it means you are not good in your profession. Or, is this really so?
BCBP (Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals) says otherwise.
The practice of one's business or profession is not only measured in terms of profit… of money. Only those who worship Mammon adhere to the belief that money is the end-wall of everything. That Christianity tempers the worship of Mammon. That there is more to life than gold.
