For me,

1) The warm and intelligent people
2) Badjang Springs
3) Family; Valencia is the ancestral home of my mother and her entire side of the family
4) Food; the food in Valencia is unbeatable
5) Santo Nino Church; a beautiful historical landmark
6) The Fiesta; self explanatory

haha, bitaw, 'te. I can still remember being a little boy and driving with my Lolo Ciano to the Basak to inspect my Lolo's rice lands. So vast, and so rich in fertility. I can still remember trudging through the stream that cut through his basak, and then back. Valencia is blessed with such fertility and such hard working citizens.

That makes Valencia, one of the shining stars of Bohol.

this certainly has nothing to do with any reason for loving valencia but as fans of valencia, you might find this valencia trivia interesting: did any of you know that valencia city in bukidnon was named after valencia in bohol? back in the 60s, valencia was a barangay of malaybalay, the capital of bukidnon. back then, it had a different name. then, people in the area though they could stand on their own feet and decided to turn it into a town. with the barangay's conversion into a town, the inhabitants decided to call it by another name. they settled on the name valencia (as in valencia, bohol) which was the birthplace of a mr. jaime galorport, the first teacher of the first school that opened in the place in 1911 while it was still part of southern malaybalay. interestingly, valencia, bukidnon was officially created as a town in 1961 during the tenure of the late President Carlos P. Garcia. in 2001, it became a city.

mas maayo siguro nga ang sisterhood ties would be between valencia, spain kay matod pa sa mga founding fathers sa atong lungsod, ginganlan nila ang lugar ufg valencia kay susama ka nindot ang view sa bukid sa lugar sa ilang native province/city, valencia, spain

Thanks, bolingitboy for sharing your knowledge about Valencia, Bohol and Valencia, Bukidnon. It's interesting and so I googled to know more about the info you gave and I learned more. Valencia, Bukidnon is one favorite hideaway place of mine when I was still based in Cagayan de Oro. In fact, I have quite a number of close friends from Valencia, Bukidnon.

grazie: you must know the places to visit and hangout in valencia city, given that you used to hang out there in the past. for about a year, i traveled to bukidnon almost every week and made valencia city my sleeping point although during the day, i'd work in malaybalay, at the philippine carabao center, the main campus of CMU and the municipal hall of maramag. i know every twist and turn of this stretch of the highway like the back of my hand... you ever been to apo lake in valancia?

Thanks Bolingit boy for sharing with us the historical background of Valencia City, Bukidnon. I never knew it before until I read your post.

I worked in Davao City for more than 2 years. During that period, I had several trips to Valencia, CDO, Malaybalay, and other parts of Bukidnon.

I used to dream of living in one of Bukidnon's remote mountains. Just a payag is enough for me.

i agree with you, mike. after countless trips to many parts in bukidnon, i too, am dreaming of having my own little payag in one of the many rolling hills that abound in the area. if you have traveled from maramag to kalilangan, the bukidnon town that borders with lanao del sur, the scenes and vistas that you see is reminiscent of pictures that you see of new zealand especially if you pay attention to the cattle grazing on a distant hill. i'll probably try and post some bukidnon pics that i have when i get to learn how to post pics.

Another reason why I love Valencia is where i grew up as a child.

It is the home of my childhood memories.
If I close my eyes, I can still see my Lola Nating outside of our house in Valencia.
If I close my eyes, I can still remember the sound of the rooster in the morning.

I can still smell the exhaust from my Lolo's truck

I can still remember driving with my Lolo, in my early youth, to Badjang, and just sitting next to him in his truck and eating pandesal and sharing a big bottle of coke with him.

That is why I love Valencia.

It was probably one of my cousins, as I did not attend Anas Elementary. I went to elementary in BWS for only 2 years before immigrating to the states.
