The municipality of Valencia is generally characterized by hilly to mountainous terrain. The area in the northeast and extending towards south has very steep terrain (slope>50%) with ground elevations up to 727 m. average mean sea level (amsl). The northwest portion has undulating to rolling terrain (slope 8-18%), with ground elevation ranging from 400 to 524 m. amsl in the eastern part. Very small densely populated areas along the coast in the east represent the level to nearly level terrain with 0-3% slope. The soil covers consist of different sorts of clay and clay loam, namely, Ubay clay loam, Batuan clay loam, Calape clay loam and Faraon clay. Faraon clay has the largest areal coverage within the municipality. The vegetative cover consists of grass lands, coconut, forest, paddy rice and built-up area. The coastal area is covered mostly by coconut tree, with a small built-up area in the central coast. Grassland covers the largets area in the central portion, while the northern part is covered with forest in the upland and irrigated and non-irrigated rice paddies of very limited extent in the lowland.

The whole Bohol is in the Corona’s climate type IV, characterized by evenly distributed rainfall over the year. The average annual rainfall is estimated to about 2,019 millimeters.
