Being a coastal town, the decade-old fight against illegal fishing thrive in the checklist of priorities of the Municipal Peace and Order Council which held its regular meeting on September 11 at JJ's Foodstream here.
Mayor Luna Piezas, chairman of the MPOC, had a chance to discuss the matter with Provincial Police Director Senior Supt. Edgardo Ingking who was invited to the meeting.
With perfect attendance of MPOC regular members, non-government organizations, peoples organizations and fishermen tackled issues and concerns on the eradication of illegal fishing activities in this coastal town, leading to the creation of "task force Maomaoan" under Coastal Law Enforcement Council-second district chapter (CLEC-2).
During the meeting, Ingking emphasized the role of all sectors of the community in curbing illegal fishing activities.
