BBC NewsUp to 6,000 jobs have been secured at Airbus's factory in Cheshire following a major order from Philippine Airlines.
The company makes wings for its aircraft at its plant at Broughton, near Chester.
It said the £4.5bn deal for 54 planes was unlikely to create any new jobs but would secure existing posts.
Philippine Airlines said the aircraft will be used on its domestic and regional routes in response to a growing demand in trade and tourism.
Airbus has recorded more than 1,200 orders for the various versions of the plane, with around 900 now flying with 90 operators throughout the world.
