PAL Admits Cebu Pacific Hurting Its Business Operations
« on: September 24, 2012, 07:13:01 AM »
Philippine Airlines (PAL) has admitted its operation is being affected by the low cost carrier Cebu Pacific because of its higher overhead cost.

But PAL Iloilo manager Juancho Demaguila was quick to say that before the expansion of the flights of Cebu Pacific Iloilo to General Santos City and Iloilo to Davao they were already there with its sister company, the Air Philippines.

Demaguila, in reaction to the new expansion of the route of Cebu Pacific, said that together with the Air Philippines, which has the same owner of PAL, they have already been flying Iloilo to General Santos and the other newly opened routes.

Cebu Pacific has been simultaneously opening new routes in Western Visayas. These are the Kalibo (Boracay)-Davao on Aug. 2; Iloilo-Tacloban, Oct. 5; Iloilo General Santos, Oct. 25; Bacolod-Cagayan de Oro, Oct. 25; Iloilo-Puerto Princesa, Oct. 26.

It will also be the airline company that will open the Iloilo airport to international flights on Nov. 8 to Hong Kong and then Iloilo to Singapore on Nov. 9.

But the Philippine Airlines not to be outdone has also on its pipeline now the Iloilo to Korea flights. - source: PNA.gov.ph
