Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippine's leading domestic airline, offers its 10 international-to-international connecting routes via Manila starting October 1, 2007.
CEB passengers can now take international connecting flights from Hong Kong or Taipei to Bangkok, Shanghai , Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore with Manila as a transit station.
Candice Iyog, CEB vice president for marketing and product, said "With the growth of our international operations, we are now able to offer our guests the convenience of international connections as well. Guests can now purchase tickets for their connecting flights online. More importantly, this service also gives the country a significant role as a key travel hub in the region."
CEB's Hong Kong and Taipei connections to Bangkok , Shanghai or Singapore and vice versa are offered daily. Meanwhile, connections to Kuala Lumpur are available four times weekly while flight connections to Jakarta are available three times weekly.
Iyog said, "We would like to make Manila a major international connecting hub. We believe that this is good for the country's tourism agenda because travelers are likely to stopover in the Philippines while going to or from their final destination. As Singapore has shown the world, short-stay tourism can be the backbone of massive tourism growth."
"We are already the number one domestic airline in the Philippines and we want to take our leadership position to the rest of Asia. We are sure that our low fares will stimulate travel in all countries that we operate in." Iyog added.
Iyog concluded that the opening of new international routes and international flight connections is part of CEB's strategy to achieve its target of carrying more than 5 million passengers this year.
Now in its 12th year, CEB has the youngest fleet of aircraft in the Philippines. CEB operates 14 Airbus aircraft to its 20 domestic and soon to be 12 international destinations with the addition of Guangzhou, and Macau starting this month.
