In the isolated Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, cannabis is so prolific that it is seen as a pest, and is fed to pigs rather than being used by humans for fibre or intoxicant purposes.

.......

Cannabis is likely to have spread and established itself in Bhutan after the end of the last glacial period around 11,700 years before present (BP). It is generally thought that cannabis originated in Central Asia, in the region now comprising Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and China’s Xinjiang Province.

.......

In modern times, the abundant wild-growing cannabis plants that festoon the fields, gardens and even streets and rooftops of Bhutan’s towns and villages are typically considered a pest, a nuisance and a crop useful only for livestock feed. Particularly, it seems to be commonly used to feed pigs, and apparently enables rapid fattening.

.......

Cannabis is remarkably prolific in Bhutan, and can be found growing wild throughout the country, even in urban areas. It is commonly found growing along roadsides, in gardens and vegetable patches, in wasteland, in forests and even in cracks in the pavements or in overgrown gutters on buildings.
