The Provincial Government of Bohol celebrates National Tourism Week, Sept. 24 to 29. In line with World Tourism Organization's celebration of World Tourism Day, the province has adopted the theme "Tourism Opens Doors for Women."
World Tourism Day 2007 is an occasion to celebrate women's achievements in the tourism sector and stimulate continuous action in support of UN's 3rd Millenium Development Goal of Promoting Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.
A simple kick-off program highlighted with trivia quizzes with prizes to lucky winners was held at the Acacia Court, Provincial Capitol Compoundlast Monday. Capping the weeklong celebration to be held at the Activity Center of the Island City Mall on Friday at 4:30 p.m. will be song, dance and choral presentations by the educational institutions in the province offering related courses to tourism, highlighting the show along with trivia quizzes and prizes to be given away to lucky winners.
The AFP-Centcom is comprised of units from the military's major services - the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force.
Ibrado said Centcom is eyeing to relocate here since they have plans of housing only its administrative offices in Camp Lapulapu in Cebu City, its current command base.
The Centcom commander considers Bohol as a strategic place for their operations center.
The CVSCAFT on the other hand held Miss Tourism Personality Tilt and Tourism Quiz Bowl in celebration of the occasion, while the Mater Dei College of Tubigon conducted seminars and workshops on Tourism, Hotel & Restaurant Management & Housekeeping Techniques, the Whats and Hows of a Tour Agency, and a symposium on the Current Trends and Issues on Tourism. They also exhibited native industries which they held at the Mater Dei College Activity Center in Tubigon.
Another highlight of National Tourism Week is the Annual Provincial Tourism Quiz which will be held on Saturday at the BQ Mall Atrium.
Organized by the Bohol Island Tour Guides Association of the Philippines or BITGAP, it is also sponsored by the Bohol Tourism Office.
