Best Memory While Visiting?
« on: November 09, 2007, 08:55:27 AM »
I actually can't name one.
ALL OF THEM WERE SO GOOD!
But I do remember this time in Lila,
My dad took us out on the motor boat by
our families beach house and I looked down into
the water and I saw the most prettiest thing ever.
It was sort of like a cliff in the water and it
Had coral and fishes and well, It was soo breathtaking.
I could count the numerous times I laughed so hard,
or tasted something new and so mindblowing.
I remember alot of times I'd just cuddle down in
my favourite section of National Bookstore
In Island City Mall. And I found out I have a good instinct for swatting flies.

Sorry for writing so much. I just really miss it there.
The friends, family, food, atmosphere, culture.
In philippines , I flourish there. Who Doesnt?

Hey em, great post and very deep retrospective thoughts. For me, one of the best times I had in the Philippines was probably in my childhood, back in the early 90s (around 1991) when I went to Panglao with my Mama Luz (my dad's mother) and the rest of the family---we were eating and it started to rain--haha and she told me and my sister to 'keep on eating, sayang ang kan-unon' hahaha! God I miss her so much. To think about it, the places in Bohol are secondary to me, its my family over there that I long to see again.

Hello Em!  Thanks for starting this thread.  Nice thoughts here, both of you, young people.  ;D

The best memory I had while visiting my family, aside from the deepest joy of seeing them, was particularly that time when I was already working in Manila and went home to Bohol.  When I got home with two big loads of goodies, all were hovering me while I opened the boxes and everybody were busy fitting their clothes or chewing candies and gums, leafing books and picture albums, etc.  I also got Mom half a dozen of umbrella - her fascination!  She didn't keep them though; she gave them away to our neighbors and relatives!. It was so humbling to see their faces happy and all.  Then my siblings and I went to the baybayon with a basket of food as our lunch and we had some sort of a boating - only we were using that small nipa house sitting on rows or bed of bamboo (I don't know how you call that) which was lent to us by Ate Mana, our Mom's dear cousin.  We also had a little boat we tied in that house.  We went to the deeper part of the sea in Manga and we jumped to the water, we ate, we fished, we slept, we had lots and lots of fun.

Aaaw. My family does that too.
And i love watching their faces turning into smiles.
God,  I miss my family there. In canada,
It's like well a different world.
Not a home, In philippines it is, and I know
my roots there. I especially love my big family.
Sometimes we'd go to fiesta's there in Lila or Inabanga or Sagbayan.
And my parents would introduce me to bunches of new people
I'd never seen before and explain the connection. But of
course, I'd never remember their names because there was soo many!  ;D

Em, do you still do amen or "mano po" to your elders?  That's a nice thing to continue instead of giving hi-5 (not in connection to TB member hi-5 101 hehehe).

Ahaha , yes I still do. And I 'bless' them , I think that's what it's called.
Where you take their right hand with your right hand and touch it to
your forehead?

Yes, that's it, Em!  Good to know you still do that.  Keep that up because that's really a nice tradition.

Hello Emlegaspo!
First of all..welcome to Tubag Bohol. ( sorry my welcome note is a bit late)
Secondly: I like reading your posts..your best memory and experiences in visiting Bohol reminded me a lot of my 13 year old daughters best memory about Bohol.:-)

The boat ride to the corals and the visit to national bookstore in ICM. :-)
How many times have you visited Bohol?

Good to know, since I am 13 :)
Well, I was born in canada but shortly after I was raised in Inabanga by my grandma and aunt
for a year and a half while my mom was off working. Then after I went back to Canada for
a few months, then back to the philippines.  ;D I used to speak fluent bisaya but as time
wore on I forgot most of it. And Ive visited there in 2002, 2003, 2006, and this year.

Wow Em! so you are as old as my daughter??
Mao diay..:-)

It is nice that you have visited Bohol many times alaready.

My daughters first visit to Pinas was in 1995 and she was only 1.5 years old. She didnt remember anything then. And her second visit was last june-july this year. Now 13 years.

Month after we arrived back to Sweden she said, she wants to go back to Bohol :-))
Also my son who is 11 years old wants to go back to Bohol already this year. :-)

So I am so happy they like Bohol. But we can not travel there as often as we want. Work, school  and other things and  moneywise.

TC.

thats good they like it!
yes we try to go as much as we can but my parents sometimes say no.
Or they just give in because they just cant resist going back :)
but sometimes our reasons for going back was sad.
In 2002 my grandma died. we were all very close and though
she was my grandma everybody called her 'nanay'.
