WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY?
By Ben Emata

The Philippines used to be like an innocent young woman, beautiful like a morning flower, its scents attract  the bees and on top of a pedestal, truly worthy of admiration and love. Today, the country is like inside the mouth of a crocodile about to be swallowed by corruption, skinned alive by some government officials that included the bad guardian of peace and order known as the police. Have we gone to the kingdom of the dogs and lost our dignity as humans?

The video that showed police officers who abducted and/or kidnapped a civilian was horrible, terrifying and had shocked people around the world. I could hardly believe it could happen in real life, except in the movies.. The worst thing is the victim was reportedly killed. If this is true, killing the perpetrators is not enough for a punishment. There must be more to offset the pain, the cruelty and humiliation suffered by the victim and his relatives.

I asked myself what is happening to our country? Why crimes so heinous and frightening are taking now nearly everyday? New things are really troubling since police officers are supposed to keep society peaceful but now they are newspaper headlines as crime suspects. Citizens are silent but must be trembling with fears they could be victims while walking in the streets. Where can one  find extreme peace in the country these days? Six feet below the ground?. TV newscasts for just one day revealed eight persons were killed in Makati and Quezon City alone. Are these not terrifying?

I don't know if you will agree with me that some criminals are genius. They can plan crimes the excellent way giving the police a real hard time in arresting them. With all these mess around the country, Pres.Duterte should not sleep or he will be haunted by his campaign promise of extreme peace around the country. This subject catapulted him to power.  Something must be done to restore that elusive peace around us. For one thing, the bad peace and order situation in the country is driving away balikbayans who are supposed to spend vacation this Christmas.

There was nothing wrong with Sen. Leila De Lima falling in love with her driver-bodyguard. Her marriage has been annulled and her lover was separated from his wife for many years. So there was hunger of love or thirst for one another.  The excitement is that both of them proved one thing - - "that love is indeed blind and lovers cannot see". Imagine De Lima is a member of the Philippine bar, a cabinet secretary and a very prominent citizen while the man is nothing better than just an unknown driver and bodyguard. Their affair is worthy for the Guiness Book of World Record or a sensational thriller in the movies. The only thing that makes it immoral is their affair is just to satisfy their sexual urges and nothing binds them together for lack of formal union, and De Lima is a public official. And why are we so concerned of her love affair while even electing Duterte to the presidency after he confessed he is a womanizer?

I wish to vow my head to the peace agreement executed by the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front and the government. Fighting ceased, no more ambushes and good relationship must  have been restored.  I hope it will remain that way to spare our farmers lives and allow them to work in their fields.  We lost so much time, effort and money engaging in battles between groups of Filipinos.  And not only that - - lives of the combatants and civilians by the thousands have been unnecessarily wasted too. The country never gained an inch of honor and pride in the useless fight.

Now that peace has returned in the country, we should promote agriculture and make ourselves self-sufficient in food. We should also learn modern technology to adjust ourselves with our neighbors which are rapidly growing with the help of modern science. We should offer free training to our farmers, our fishermen and people who can work elsewhere. When I arrived in the United States, I searched for job only to realize that the country is high tech and everyone was using computers. And because I was ignorant about it, I was told to take free training which I did. After passing the written and oral examinations in a government office, I was hired.

I am calling all citizens to file charges against law enforcers who might have violated their rights. Our country will dive faster into the kingdom of the evils if we allow them to push through with their bullying activities. Some police officers have become stupid and do not know they are supposed to be the guardian of peace and order and not cohorts of crimes. The media will help you. Come to us anytime of day.  See a lawyer.  BEN EMATA  Bennex News Service

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
