seriously, what are we, really, as a people, that we deserve this kind of entertainer?  why has his name become a byword in the entertainment industry?  serves us well, smack in the face.  he star will fade out soon enough.  naturally.  we may be fooled, but we also get tired.

Reminds me of our Congress, and further reminds me to paraphrase a Mark Twain quote:

"Suppose we deserve this kind of entertainer, and suppose he were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself."

A member of Congress (or two or three, or more) comes to mind...
