Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Lim formally made public his apology to the management of Station dyRD during his weekly “Mayor’s Report” yesterday after he criticized the radio management for hiring “rejects from the competing station.”

According to Lim, as a public official, he is vulnerable to all sorts of criticism. While he welcomes those that would contribute for the development of the community, he disapproves of personal attacks made against him over the radio.

The mayor said he expects the same transparency from members of the media, the way he is also transparent in handling his radio program.

Even as his tirades last week identified dyRD in general, the mayor clarified he was particularly referring to a block-time radio program which he claims, “is criticizing [him] everyday.”
He thanked the station’s management for putting a disclaimer in all block-time programs starting last Monday.

Lim said that since his first term, he had been criticized many times over dyRD and its sister company, the Bohol Chronicle. However, the mayor acknowledged he could see that the comments were made with the intent of finding solutions to flaws and deficiencies in the community.
