It stressed that being offered through discounted goods or offered in promotional schemes such as "buy one, take one" or "bundle-packed goods" are not enough reason to purchase them.
The health agency also warned that food items and medicines soaked in flood water may have been contaminated by animal and human feces and other excrement, mainly from overflowing septic tanks and sewage system, as well as heavy metals, fuel and other chemicals and pesticides from nearby industrial factories, hospitals or clinic, or farms.
"It only takes a small amount of microbial pathogens to make people sick. Infection can be through ingestion of contaminated food and water," said FDA.
Instead of consuming them, FDA said flood-soaked food items and medicines should be immediately disposed.
