Talibon Bohol Mayor Grants Stewardship to Fishpond Operators

Talibon, Bohol Mayor Juanario Item had recently signed and distributed tenurial instruments to 170 fishpond operators at the 580-hectare communal mangrove forest spanning in five barangays in this town.

A short program was held at the Carlos P. Garcia Memorial Session Hall for the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) entered into between the Local Government Unit of Talibon (LGU-Talibon) and the legitimate fishpond operators.

Jesus Lagura, representative of the DENR and the barangay captains of barangays Balintawak, San Agustin, San Isidro, San Pedro and San Roque witnesssed the MOA signing.

The five barangays covered the 580-hectare mangrove forest.

Human Resource Management Officer IV Peter Polestico, the designated project manager hosted the program.
In his welcome address, Vice Mayor Restituto Auxtero gave informed the fishpond operators that after receiving the tenurial documents they will automatically face financial obligations like paying P100 application fee, business license fee of P300 per hectare and resource use fee of P500 per year for every hectare. The fishpond operators will have to pay this set of obligations within the period of January 1 to 20 every year.
