Bohol Chess Development Center (BCDC) will conduct a three-day chess competition dubbed as “Tagbilaran City Active Chess Tournament†starting Friday at the TCCC Clubhouse located along E. Calceta St. this city. There will be two categories, all-student 20-yr old and below and the senior category.
Seven-round Swiss System Format will be applied with 30 minutes time control for every player to finish the game. Top five winners in each category will be awarded with cash prizes.
“This is a good gesture for BCDC to conduct this chess activity for us enthusiasts especially the students prior to the opening of classes,†said Dauis councilman Pedro ‘Pete’ Honculada Jr.
Games will start at 2 p.m. Friday.
Expected to participate are top Boholano players led by National Master Elmer Sumngat, Candidate Masters Glenn Pardillo Jr. of Tubigon, Michael Teves, Ricardo Ocoy, Jing Saniel, Rufo Castro, Guindulman’s Jonas Golosino and Auxillo Olaer, Calape’s Edward Cubio and Donde Gallero, San Miguel’s Nelson Redulla, UB’s Genesis Apog, Philip Nuena, and Mark Pilongo, PMI’s Achilles Villamor, BIT’s PJ Caderao and junior standouts Michael Pagaran, Anthony Kyle Bantol of HNU and Taloto’s Jonathan Dumale.
