Golden Seniors in Bohol

By the Bohol Chronicle

The month of December, 2009 ushered in a different aura for the members of Golden Seniors Club simply because Christmas was around the corner and members based abroad like Sir Tim Salvacion direct from Canada and Ma'am Yolie Bustrillos, from the land of green bucks, graced the occasions we had.

As early as December 05, 2009, Jo and Gemma Millare hosted a dinner party, along with December-born members, Ma'am Dading Mar and Carlits Cuarto. Gemma who celebrated her natal day on December 05, gathered the group for a joint celebration which is a double up affair because a house-warming of their newly-renovated abode and house blessing of Gemma's nephew, Alfonsitos Magallanes were held, officiated by Rev. Fr. Kiking Magdoza.

Despite heavy rains, the GSC members came and dined with Jo and Gemma's family at their residence which appears like an American home in simple but elegant Christmas decors. A brief program was held for the three celebrators, Ma'am Dading, being the most senior in position and in age, delivered a very fitting response, stressing that at her age, she enjoys life to the fullest with her family and loved ones, that her co-retirees are part and parcel of her happy living now on her twilight years. She doesn't light candles nor tally calendar because she believes that the Lord has the ultimate power to extend her life or to take her back to His kingdom. Meanwhile it seemed as if it was an evening for Alie Karaan, who danced the night out with or without a dancing partner.

On December 7, the GSC members trooped to JJ's Dimsum for a joint Christmas and Despedida party. Sir Tim Salvacion, Ma'am Yolie Bustrillos, and Sir Fred Malaran were sent off in advance to give way for the busy days ahead of the GSC members with their respective family. Of course, the young once-upon-a-time members exchanged gifts with each other after which, each group presented an impromptu number and a photo session followed. For sure the retired teachers went home with hearts filled with joy in accordance with the yuletide season. By January, 2010, Sir Vic and Bebot Torralba will be inviting the group again along with January-born Lita Dumalag, Tancing Linde, and Alie Karaan. See you then!!!

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
