Edgar Kapirig and Mar Uy: No Reconciliation

The Bohol Chronicle

No reconciliation is in sight for Deputy Mayor Mariano Uy and City Kag. Edgar Kapirig as an attempt to mediate over their feud at the barangay level failed last Monday.

Uy has filed a complaint for grave slander with damages against Kapirig.

During their confrontation at the Poblacion-1 barangay hall presided by barangay captain Niño Racho, Uy narrated why he lodged the complaint against the city councilor.

However, Kapirig stood firm that he will not apologize to the deputy mayor and administrator of the Botika sa Katawhan.

Kapirig denied Uy's allegations that he spread around rumors of mishandling of donated funds for the Botika sa Katawhan.

The allegations were denied by Uy saying monetary donations for the Botika were minimal as most benefactors send medicines.

Uy also said the Botika could not be subjected to a government audit since it was initiated and managed by him, as a private individual.

The only counterpart of the city government, Uy claimed, is the building provided for the Botika. Likewise salaries of doctors, nurses and staff is shouldered by the city.

Uy said that just over a year after its operation, the Botika has given free medicines to over 7,000 beneficiaries in the city.

Uy targets to distribute medicines to 15,000 recipients in the next two years.

Kapirig, during last Sunday's mediation surprised the public when he bared that the controversy does not involve the Botika project but was triggered by a "third party" which he did not elaborate.

Both Kapirig and Uy are political supporters of Mayor Dan Lim who tried to mediate their conflict.

Kapirig's son, Michael, is running as city SK federated president. It could not be ascertained if the young Kapirig will still get the mayor's endorsement after the latter declared during last Saturday's "Mayor's Report" that he is with Uy in this controversy.

What I couldn't understand is why Michael Kapirig's endorsement by Mayor Dan Lim as SK fededrated President is even mentioned much more affected because of his father's rift between Uy.
