Cueshe Conquers Bohol

They came, and conquered Manila, and now they will conquer Bohol. After years of waiting, Cueshe is finally here!

Globe G-Cash, in cooperation with Touch Mobile, presents the country's hottest pop-alternative band, Cueshe, in their biggest concert event this summer at the Island City Mall carpark, May 26, Saturday, starting at 7 PM.

There are three ways to watch the concert: 1) Use Globe G-Cash to purchase at Alturas Supermarket, Plaza Marcela, and Island City Mall, and present text confirmation at the concert gate; 2) Pay for Globe Handyphone and Globelines bills; or 3) Just simply buy Globe pre-paid load

worth P50 only. Globe booths will be set up in the concert venue in order to entertain all concert-goers.

Struggling for many years playing Top 40 music in bar joints, Cueshe has gone along way since they left Cebu, to fulfill a lifelong dream of a musical stardom in Manila. It was an uphill battle at the start but with their persistence, talent and hard work, everything came just like a thief in the night. Sony-BMG offered the band a deal and the rest-however clichéd it may sound-is history. The singles "Stay," "Sorry," "Ulan," "Can't Let You Go," and "24 Hours" from their debut album, "Half Empty, Half Full," became chart-toppers. The album likewise sold thousands, achieving the double platinum mark.

Accolades poured in, headlined by their big win at the 1st MYX Music Awards, bagging three major victories as Favorite Artist, Favorite Group and Favorite Song "Stay" out of four nominations. Viewers of musical variety show SOP voted the band as Best Breakthrough Artist in 2005 and Band of the Year in 2006. The band bagged the Hitmaker of the Year Award at the 2006 MTV Pilipinas Awards.

Cueshe had just showcased their much-anticipated second album, "Back To Me," which turns gold, selling more than 15,000 copies nationwide. It produced the hits "Back To Me," "Borrowed Time" and the Asian Treasures theme song "Walang Yamang (Mas Hihigit Sa 'Yo)." Likewise, the band has just released their latest single, "Bakit," which is dominating the airwaves.

While many of their contemporaries have languished far and long in the underground scene, Cueshe shot up seemingly out of nowhere in 2005 to eventually rule the airwaves faster than the proverbial bullet and now in the league with such top-caliber bands as Bamboo and Rivermaya.

No doubt, Cueshe is among the biggest pop rock acts in recent years. A tough feat for a band that had to overcome a variety of obstacles-including the near fatal motorcycle accident of vocalist Jay Justiniani in 2001, where all band members resorted to doing odd jobs just to sustain weekly jamming sessions in lieu of Jay's recovery.

Cueshe is composed of Jay Justiniani (vocals), Ruben Caballero (vocals/ guitar), Jovan Mabini (lead guitar), Jhunjie Dosdos (keyboards), Fritz Labrado (bass guitar) and Mike Manaloto (drums). The band name came from the "cue" in "banana cue," their favorite snacks after a rehearsal. The "she" part came from the band's female vocalist whom Jay replaced.
