Tagbilaran City lawmakers belonging to the minority bloc continue to keep a close watch on all budgetary requests at the Sangguniang Panlungsod following the pending issue of the P6.2 million unliquidated cash advances of ranking city hall officials including the city mayor, and several other queries on huge increase in this year's budget as compared to last year.
The budget for last year was P258,238,389 as compared to this year's budget of P337,052,121.
Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso, SP presiding officer told the Chronicle last Friday that a budgetary request coming from the office of the city mayor quoted a P53.4 million supplemental budget which was endorsed by the committee on appropriations and accounts chaired by Kag. Oscar Glovasa.
The request came through a letter of the city mayor requesting the amount of P53,400,000 which was requested to be treated as a "special order of the day."
The said amount, according to the letter request will be used for the following: P2 million for the payment of loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines; P500,000 for fiberglass bat for bantay Dagat sea patrol; P250,000 for tents; P300,000 for fiberglass basketball goals, P350,000 for risograph machine and P50,000,000 for the rehabilitation/concreting/asphalting of city and barangay roads. - The Bohol Chronicle
