The NorthFace Thrill of the Trail in Bohol
« on: October 02, 2010, 05:13:14 AM »
Two runners from here successfully proved that running in Bohol is first a business for Boholanos.

Making their presence felt in the recently concluded The NorthFace (TNF) Thrill of the Trail in Danao Bohol last September 12, Boholanos Reg Edsel Mortejo of DelaPaz Cortes and Archie Ecabande of the Divine Word Outdoors Club finished second and third in the 11 kilometer endurance race following the challenging trails mapped by organizers.

Mortejo clocked 1:18:17 seconds while Ecabande crossed the 11 k finish line a minute later at 1:19:50 after maneuvering the wet and slippery trails from the town hall to the eco-adventure park.

Winning the 11 k race was veteran Cebuano runner and University of Cebu athletics coach Jeppy Lumongsod at 1:13:30.

In the 22 k trail race, Charlie Berbiero clocked in at 1:49.50 seconds before Paul James Zafico, another Cebuano veteran distance runner who came second at 2:01:78. Third to cross the line after a gruelling 22K race was Marcela Merano at 2:05:32 seconds.

Participated in by some 500 professional and amateur runners from the Visayas and Luzon, Danao Trail is the last of TNF trail races that were held in Batangas, Nuvali Eco-Village in Laguna and Cagayan de Oro.

The trail presented several mad scrambles skirting the hills, past slimy rice paddies and weaving through the lush green fields after crossing rivers that made practically every runner swearing.

The NorthFace Thrill of the Trail in Bohol was the toughest, most challenging and yet the best in the series, may agreed.

With a little over 500 runners scrambling for 11 and 22 kilometer trails, the trails weaves through the rural sceneries, while the challenge was even made tougher with a rain that soaked the trail the previous night, participants admitted.

Mayor Thomas Louis Gonzaga said he has committed to making his town reap the premiums of eco-adventure which his team has relatively been very successful in the past.

Coming strong as a leaders in adventure tourism in the region now, Gonzaga said they would not stop making the park the best of all outdoor experiences.

Up in the next few months would be another thrill ride he calls: ex-anity.

The mayor excitedly explained that “Ex-anity” as opposed to insanity would be a very long zipline that would test one’s extreme levels of insanity.

Danao has successfully operated the sui-slide: a zipline that borders on the suicide and the Plunge, which is basically the hit adventure through canyon swing. (racPIABohol)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
