Filipino Randy Suico kayoed tough Japanese challenger Koji Samejima in the 8th round to keep his Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) lightweight crown in the main event of "The Battle for Supremacy" held moments ago at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Philippines.
The 27-year-old Suico initially made a punching bag out of Samejima in the first two rounds by hitting the Japanese with right straights to the face and several body shots.
Samejima became active starting in the third round by using his jabs in stalling Suico's attacks.
Suico continued to dominate a backtracking Samejima although the Japanese opened up a cut on the Filipino's left eyelid with a stiff left jab.
A strong left hook to the chest by Suico knocks Samejima down in the 6th round. Samejima recovered from the fall but was later on tagged by Suico with a left hook that resulted in a cut on the Japanese's left eyelid.
Suico worked on the cut, strafing Samejima with left jabs starting in the 7th round. Samejima fought gallantly middle of the round by unleashing several two-punch combos, missing most of them.
With less than a minute remaining in the 8th round Suico unleashed a strong right straight, using a left jab as a set-up, flooring Samejima flat on his back.
