Cases of unaccounted funds and the lack of grassroots program have allegedly put Philippine swimming into a mess, a former senator said.
Nikki Coseteng, who is now president of Diliman Preparatory School in Quezon City, told the House of Representatives recently about the supposed irregularities under PASA (Philippine Amateur Swimming Association) president Mark Joseph.
The ex-legislator noted that funds from 2004 to present have not been settled with concerned authorities such as the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Commission on Audit (COA), and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Coseteng also revealed that the PASA received P30 million directly from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) without passing through the PSC.
“Philippine swimming is in turmoil. Unresolved issues have hounded the leadership of PASA. These issues, on which the honor and credibility of our country rests definitely have to be investigated and resolved,†she said. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
