St. Benilde overpowered San Beda, 25-10, 25-16, 25-14 Monday to jump into a share of second place with Perpetual Help in the penultimate day of the elimination round in the women’s division of the 86th NCAA Volleyball competition at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gym.
Already assured of a place in the semifinals, the Thelma Barina-Rojas-mentored Lady Blazers leaned on their bench depth to help them ease their way to No. 2 alongside the Lady Altas on identical 6-1 (win-loss) slates in this event backed by Mikasa and Asics.
A win each by CSB and Perpetual Help would propel them into a three-way logjam atop the heap with current pace-setter San Sebastian on identical 7-1 (win-loss) slates.
The Lady Altas square off with the already-ran Arellano U Lady Chiefs while the Lady Blazers tackle the winless Mapua Lady Cardinals.
The Lionesses ended their campaign with six setbacks against two triumphs.
Hanging to the fourth and final berth is Letran, which owns a 5-3 mark. (PNA)
