P60M road opens new
agro-economic route

The P60-million Sikatuna-Loboc road is opening a new agri-ecotourism route that can help accelerate development.

While serving eco-tourism, the road at the same time hastens the flow of trade between farms and markets.

The horizontal infrastructure, which cementing phase in the Sikatuna side is on-going, is equally vital to education.

It serves as a convenient access to the Balilihan Campus of the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT), an infant extension but which student number has already doubled.

Delegates to the recent United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) - 6th International Tourism Forum for Parliamentarians and Local Authorities which was held in Cebu had passed the route in their technical visit to Bohol.

Tourists and visitors preferring the said route can take satisfying stops at the Corella sanctuary of tarsier, world's smallest and oldest living primate, and natural tree park in Sikatuna.

The tarsier sanctuary has undergone landscaping at P1.5 million secured by Rep. Edgar Chatto from the Department of Tourism (DOT) and implemented by the local government unit and Philippine Tarsier Foundation.

Another improvement there is the rise of a fine hostel/welcome center funded by the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA).

Guests and tourists are encouraged to plant trees at the Sikatuna natural tree park to contribute to the global advocacy against climate change.

From Corella and Sikatuna, the road snakes out to Loboc, where "angels sing through the children" and river cruised by floating restaurants.

It then connects to Carmen where the wondrous Chocolate Hills never cease to enchant human sights and force imagination astray.

The new agro-eco-tourism road leads to the river cruise passing by the lush farmlands.

Chatto funded the concreting of the Sikatuna stretch of the interior route while Rep. Jala improved the Loboc side. (Ven rebo Arigo)
