MANILA - Sen. Loren Legarda openly talked about some of the men being romantically linked to her as well as the condition of her sex life.

Speaking to ANC, Legarda denied being romantically involved with Sen. Edgardo Angara and lawyer Adel Tamano.

She also said she respects President Aquino but denied that she could have a romance with the bachelor president.

"Family friend natin si Presidente at rinerespeto natin yan," she said.

She remained tightlipped and only laughed when asked if she and former Timorese President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate José Ramos-Horta went on a date.

She also admitted that her sex life is zero right now. Legarda's marriage with former Batangas Gov. Antonio Leviste has been annulled.

"Nakakahiyang aminin wala talaga. Papaano ba naman yan," she said.

nakurat lang ug ahat tong kaila sa akong kaila who was her classmate at the national defense college of the philippines (ndcp); that friend of my friend was at the top of their class.  imagine, nigawas nga si loren legarda ang valedictorian.  that could only have come out from her camp's own press release.  (it is said that the ndcp does not confer such honors on anyone.)  she's diligent, sure.  but intelligent?  why package herself with a lie?

excerpts from Why the hemming and hawing, Sen Legarda?
by Dr Margarita Holmes, 09/20/2012, rappler.com:

Just look at your track record and the advocacies you support: environment protection, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, protecting the rights of women and children (kuno); providing better opportunities for the poor (kuno); and protecting the welfare of Filipino workers.

What’s there not to like? It’s just like introducing a bill that says we should be exposed to early morning sun since it’s been proven it is good for us all. No political will is needed to pass these politically correct causes. Admittedly, there’s a certain security in not ruffling any feathers, but there is no heroism either.

If you were a movie, you would be a Disney-made one, with pretty liitle lambs with flowers in their wool, gamboling in the fields. Pia Cayetano and, I daresay, even the plagiarist Tito Sotto and the bully Juan Ponce Enrile would be Brillante-directed indie films.

Are you real?

When George W Bush was campaigning for his second term, a professor in Damascus asked his students who they preferred to be voted president in the then-coming elections. To his surprise, all his students chose Bush. Never mind that they perceived him as trying to annihilate them. What they saw in him was a clear commitment to whatever he believed. His god may have been different from theirs, but they sensed an unequivocal stand concerning his moral beliefs. And it was this fire in the belly that they respected.

You, however, are a totally different kettle of fish. Cool as a cucumber and hardly ever a hair out of place. In fact, I have witnessed you truly upset under only two circumstances: whenever you are accused of being a political butterfly; and when Ador Mawanay, a witness in a Senate hearing, claimed that you bought P9.9 million worth of smuggled Nokia phones from him.

And it makes me sad, you know, that the only times I have seen you expressing genuine emotion are when you feel your own well being is threatened. And no, crying on Sen Drilon’s shoulder during Pres Estrada’s impeachment trial doesn’t count…especially after expressing your regret for having contributed to Edsa 2.

Despite trying to come across as pro-woman every chance you get — not to mention as pro-poor, pro-OFW, pro-Indigenous people, pro-waste management and everything else that doesn’t rankle potential voters — you don’t seem that sincere.

more on legarda:

Legarda married businessman and former Batangas governor Jose Antonio Leviste, but they eventually separated before the 2004 election campaign. They have two sons, Lorenzo Antonio and Lance Antonio.

Few people are aware of the fact that Legarda was married before she met Leviste. Her official biodata does not mention this fact and it is not certain whether her first marriage was legally dissolved. Antonio Leviste himself was married to his first wife Celia when he met Legarda. He converted to Islam in 1986 and married Legarda in Las Vegas in 1987 even if he had never attempted to dissolve his previous marriage. His conversion to Islam might have allowed him to marry Legarda although he said that he converted for spiritual purposes.

One cannot help but wonder about the legality of Legarda’s marriage to Leviste. Although the marriage is valid under Islam law, the same cannot be said under Philippine civil law. According to Article 71 of the old Civil Code (which was the law applicable during the time of their marriage), all marriages performed outside the Philippines in accordance with the laws in force in the country where they were performed, and valid there as such, shall also be valid in this country, except bigamous, polygamous or incestuous marriages as determined by Philippine law. Of course, the main point is that a subsequent marriage is bigamous unless the first and subsisting marriage has been legally dissolved.
