Making Referrals In Medicine
« on: May 07, 2011, 02:43:00 AM »
It is crucial for professionals to know the boundaries of their own competence and to refer clients/patients to other professionals when working with them is beyond their professional training or when personal factors would interfere with a productive working relationship/therapeutic relationship.

After counseling with a psychiatric patient for a few sessions, for example, you may determine that he or she needs more intensive therapy than you're qualified to offer.
