Seven members of Budol-Budol Gang arrested
Complainants against the notorious gang Budol-Budol showed up one after another at the Valenzuela City Police Station after the police have reported the arrest of seven members of the said gang, April 3, 2018.
At around 2:30 in the afternoon of April 2,2018 along G. Lazaro Street, Dalandanan, Valenzuela City, victim Carmen Balucatin, 68, resident of Barangay Dalandanan, was approached by suspect Gina Dela Cruz, asking for directions going to Honda Service Center. Another suspect Felix Serranothen interfered in their conversation. The two said suspects convinced Balucatin to board on their silver Toyota Revo with plate number WTP 185.
While inside the said vehicle, other suspects (identified below) tried to convince the victim to show them her bank passbook in exchange of Php5,000.00. They also asked the victim if she owns any jewelry. According to the victim, she sensed that she was being duped so she tried to unboard from the car.
Suspect Felix Serrano took thePhp3,000.00 from the victim’s wallet, but as the victim tried to resist, Serrano uttered, “Wag ka nang lumaban. Pag hindi mo binigay pera mo, papatayin ka naminâ€. The victim was forced to give her money.
When the victim has alighted from the car, she sought help from the team of operatives led by PSI Jose R Hizon happened to be at the same area and rescued the victim. Abrief chase ensued until suspects were flagged down and arrested. Recovered from the vehicle were five (5) bundles of fake money and the victim’s cash amounting to Php3,000.00.
During the conduct of investigation, complainants of different budol-budol incidents happened and reported in Valenzuela City surfaced and positively identified the suspects as the ones that have victimized them.
Furthermore, the above described vehicle which has been recovered from the suspects has been the police subject of an alarm. Through further investigation, the said vehicle was seen in the CCTV footages used by the said notorious group in their series of Budol-Budol modus operandi in the area of Valenzuela City.
During the presentation of the suspects to the media, four other female victims from the said city came up and positively identified the suspects as the same persons that have also victimized them. One 56 year old-victim from Barangay Parada said that the gang has taken Php225,000 from her on February 15, 2018. Other three victims, 59, from Barangay Coloong, 68, from Barangay Karuhatan;and 73, from Barangay Arkong Bato, said they were victimized by the group with Php21,000 worth of jewelries and cash; Php105,000.00 cash and jewelries; and Php45,000.00 cash and jewelries respectively.
“Sa pagkakahuli sa grupong ito, mabibigyan na ng hustisya na ang mga nabiktima. Sana ay magsilbing aral ito sa lahat na mag-ingat at huwag magtitiwala sa mga hindi kilala. Maging alisto po tayoâ€, PSSUPT Ronaldo r Mendoza, VCPS Chief of Police said during the presentation of suspects.
Cases of Robbery with Threat and Intimidation; Four (4) Counts Estafa (Swindling); and Syndicated Estafa will be filed against the suspects before the Valenzuela City Prosecutors Office.
Local police said that efforts are now being made to contact other victims of Budol-Budol incidents in the said city.
Arrested suspects were identified as follows:
• Rosalie Ramirez y Alfonso, female, 49, single, resident of no. 280 Kalinisan St., Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City;
• Andy dela Cuesta y Lanorias, male, with livein partner, 34, residing at Phase 2, Block 50, Lot 7, Park Lane Subdivision, Barangay Santiago, General Trias, Cavite City;
• Felix Serrano y Lumayag, male, married, 43, resident of Blk. 3, Lot 16, Barangay San Dionisio, Area 1, Dasmarinas Cavite;
• Rogelio Barcelo y Cortiz, male, with live-in partner, 49, residing at Balungbato, Gen. Luis St., Novaliches, Quezon City;
• Rizalyn Hernandez y Mendoza, female, 42, resident of no. 162 Barangay Tambo, Paranaque City;
• Gina dela Cruz y Kadao, female, 60, residing Barangay Tambo, Paranaque City; and
• Ireneo Lapuz Jr. Y Pacilan, 52, married, resident of Balimbing Drive, Imus Cavite.
