Malaybalay City ready for devinfo technology
Cagayan de Oro City (30 August 2005) -- IMPROVED access to information will result in better local administration and governance. This is the observation made by Mayor Florencio T. Flores Jr. of Malaybalay City during the 2nd Devinfo Users’ Training held on Aug. 1-3.

The training was aimed at providing city planners with further training on the Devinfo software and enhance their skills to set up and organize their data for easy storage, retrieval and referral, and to ensure data users of timely access to information, according to Regional Director Casimira V. Balandra of the National Economic and Development Authority in Northern Mindanao.

The Devinfo system provides access to statistical indicators classified according to sectors, goals, themes, and other data management schemes.

Developed by UNICEF, Devinfo is a free and user-friendly software application integrated with Microsoft office for easy presentation of data in tables, graphs, and maps.

Mayor Flores said with the readiness of the city in adopting Devinfo software, he expects the city agencies to use the stored information in planning, program implementation, monitoring, evaluation, advocacy, institutional strengthening, resource mobilization, and decision-making processes in a sustainable manner.

“With this technology, we will be able to heighten our capability in knowledge management,” said Herculano S. Ronolo, city planning and development coordinator.

Ronolo has been in the forefront in adopting the Devinfo system and was the one who initiated the conduct of trainings for the local staff.

He said aside from institutionalizing Devinfo in its data banking operations, the city is committed to set up a knowledge center that would serve as a repository of data and information, and cater to information needs of the local chief executives, program implementers, policy makers, researchers, and other stakeholders. John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
