Retire & enjoy your loot

So as a politician you have had enough of public service? What are you going to do now let alone if the Constitution bar you from running again. Unless you are aiming for another position. But that's another story.

This scenario becomes inevitable come 2010 when elections are here again. Certainly, many of our present crop of politicians are graduating and therefore out of contention. There are those who are good for another crack at different positions either higher or lower of the present office they now occupy.

Be that as it may, our main beef here is qou vadis for those who have nowhere to go but up. But aiming high, is out of the question if one don't have the so-called political pedigree. Higher office, meaning political positions above the provincial level is as always being dominated by name recall. Anybody who is somebody in the pinnacle of power should have at least the right lineage or bloodline to be easily recognizable or he may be a celebrity in sports or tinsel town.

Stripped of these choices, one option is retirement. To those who can afford to call it quits, because he has had enough, retirement is a palatable option. And why not?

If after all these years in public service you have earned a fortune, what more can you ask for? The next big thing is retire and enjoy your loot.

Just don't give this Bglante the crap that you did not make money all these years while in office. If you are one politician who preside over several public work projects during your watch and you tell me that garbage that you are not getting any SOP out of those projects? Tell me this rubbish, and this Bglante can tell you with a straight face, don't give me that dung. Just tell this Bglante who is that politician who is not on the take.

It must be that you are so discreet in accepting bribes or kickbacks. It must be that you can afford not to flaunt your wealth. It must be that you are fond of pleading poverty so people will not suspect that you are awash with cash.

Well, and good.

Whatever, for all intents and purposes, we have to admit that to win an election, any politician worth his salt will always buy his way to victory. That's another s*** if you tell this Bglante that you win elections out of the goodness of the hearts of the people.

Try running for public office and abhor vote buying and you end up biting the dust.
Whether you are Mr. Clean or what not, in every election, you are always in the safe side of the gambit by engaging in massive vote buying.

The only time maybe that you are safe of winning in a political contest is when you run unopposed.

Even if you will be sleeping the whole campaign period, all you need is one vote (your own vote, of course,) to propel you to victory if you are running alone.

So, there's nowhere to go after serving the whole gamut of public service. There's nothing more exhilarating than reminiscing the good old days, tampering with the public tills through SOP. And once you have accumulated more than enough, then enjoy retirement and have a good time.
