The Bohol ChronicleAn overwhelming number of Boholanos want barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections to push through next month, according to a random phone and text survey by dyRD’s top-rated “Inyong Alagad†last Thursday.
This despite a comprehensive bill adopted by the House of Representatives committee on suffrage and electoral reforms to defer the polls set on October 29.
The radio survey was conducted over dyRD’s top-rated Inyong Alagad where 96-percent, or 49 out of 51 survey respondents, said they do not want the elections to be postponed.
A little less than 4-percent, or only 2 out the 51 respondents, favor the postponement.
Respondents who want elections to be held next month said they want change in their barangay leadership as there are barangay officials who have not been performing well.
Many respondents want the elections to push through saying barangay and SK officials are overstaying in their posts.
Barangay elections have already been cancelled twice in the past years. The last barangay polls were in 2002.
