MANILA, Philippines – United Nationalist Allance (UNA) spokesperson Mon Ilagan confirmed that Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay will deliver his own version of State of the Nation Address (SONA).
 
“Siya ay gagawa po ng hindi po anti-SONA ang tawag namin kundi ‘True State of the Nation (Address).’ Dangan nga lamang hindi pa niya ma-determine kung kailan niya gagawin ang True State of the Nation,” Ilagan said in a radio interview with DZMM.
 
According to Ilagan, Binay's ‘True SONA’ will focus on the real situation of the Filipino masses including poverty, hunger and other issues such as MRT woes, fund anomalies, among others.
 
“Kung ano ang nararamdaman ng maraming naghihirap, nagugutom na Pilipino, yun ang kanyang ire-report, yun ang kanyang babanggitin. But not necessarily para kontrahin kaya gusto n’ya munang mapakinggan muna kung anong sasabihin ng Pangulong Aquino sa kanyang SONA sa darating na Lunes,” Ilagan said.
 
Ilagan added that Binay will reveal and convey the issues he encountered during his visits to various provinces within the country.
 
“Iba yung mga nangyayaring ipini-present na figures ng pamahalaan kumpara doon sa feedback na nakukuha niya at ipinaparating sa kanya lalong-lalo na ng sektor ng mga mahihirap sa usapin ng tinatawag po nating poverty o kahirapan,” Ilagan said.
 
Ilagan furthered that Binay will attend President Benigno Aquino III’s final SONA on Monday. However, he said Binay will merely listen to Aquino's speech so he can determine which isues he will address in his "True SONA."
 
During the UNA launch last July 1, Binay delivered speech that countered the current administration and discussed promises their camp is willing to do to once seated in the position.
 
Binay resigned from the Aquino administration cabinet late June and has been the official chairman of the opposition party since then.
