buwad nga lawlaw.
for a while there i thought lawlaw is the preparation of fimbriated sardines buried and preserved in salt, a process that makes the fish tender and terribly salty. it tastes so good, a very small pinch can go a long way. unfortunately for me, it is enough to swell my lips as an allergic reaction.
it turns out that lawlaw is the local term for fimbriated sardines, i found out after a trip at the internet highway. so yes, buwad ni nga lawlaw, or dried sardines, as differentiated from salted sardines.
fimbriated sardine (sardinella fimbriata)
