The occasion is a prelude to the commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, 2011.
The whole day event will be held from 6:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
The celebration starts with “We Walk Our Talk: Alay Lakad Kontra Korupsiyon†at 7:00 A.M.
OMB officials and employees together with JGUs officers and advisers from the National Capital Region (NCR) with their slogans will march around the Quezon City Circle Bikers Lane.
This will be followed by the program-proper at 9:00 A.M. and the multi-event competitions from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., both to be held at the OMB’s Covered Court, Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City.
Expected to address the event are Assistant Ombudsman Evelyn A. Baliton, Public Assistance and Corruption Prevention Office (PACPO) and Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon Francis H. Jardeleza.
The program, part of the OMB’s multi-sectoral strategy, will enjoin and empower the youth sector in graft prevention and control by encouraging them to establish JGUs in schools and communities.
More than 500 high school and collegiate JGU members are expected to participate in several competitions.
Atty. Rhodora N. Fenix-Galicia, officer-in-charge of the Community Coordination Bureau (CCB) will lead the awarding ceremonies.
“These contests encourage young and amateur students to express concern, through humor and art, the impact of corruption and its effects in their lives,†Atty. Galicia said.
She added that “the activity also aims to reaffirm and emphasize the role of the JGU in empowering and developing the young to be productive citizens of the country and responsive to the needs of the times.â€
