Ombudsman inks MOU with Korean counterpart

THE Philippines’ Office of the Ombudsman and Korean’s Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on September 7, 2012.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales and ACRC Chairperson Young-ran Kim signed the MOU at Seoul, South Korea .
The MOU aims to establish and strengthen cooperation between the two Ombudsman organizations in developing systems in preventing and combating corruption, facilitate exchange of experiences and enable learning of the strength of each other’s systems, seek collaboration in areas of common interest to promote the rights of their nationals, and provide a means of resolving the difficulties and inconveniences encountered by their respective overseas nationals.
Areas of cooperation under the MOU include conducting joint investigations and research related to ombudsman and anti-corruption, capacity-building, data sharing, and complaints referral facilitation.
The MOU will be effective for three years, subject to renewal for another three years upon mutual consent.
