The Philippine National Police (PNP) here has launched a thorough investigation on the kidnapping of a Filipino-Chinese businessman Friday morning.
Jordan Chua, 26 and a resident of Bacolod City, was kidnapped by unknown suspects at 7:30 a.m. in Purok Michell, Barangay Dulao, Bago City while his companion, Joel Arroyo, a resident of Barangay Mansilingan, in Bacolod City was shot and wounded by the kidnappers.
Arroyo is now undergoing treatment at the Bacolod City Sanitarium Hospital, a report from the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) said.
NOPPO director Sr. Supt. Manuel Felix alerted all police units in Central Negros and nearby towns and cities in the aftermath of Chua's abduction.
The two victims were on board their bicycles when four suspects, riding in a silver-grey Toyota Grandia without plate number, suddenly shot at Arroyo and later on, dragged Chua into their vehicle, said Police Chief Insp. Jefferson Descallar, chief of NOPPO's Operations and Plans Branch.
The suspects sped off towards nearby Barangay Felisa in Bacolod City after the incident, according to witnesses.
Policemen from Camp Alfredo Montelibano and the Bago City PNP assisted troopers of the Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety Management Company, based in Barangay Dulao and led by Inspector Leo Canag, in the hot pursuit operations. -pna
