Resort owners in the island paradise Panglao expressed elation that there is potable water available for their respective resorts after years of waiting.
This breakthrough came after Mactan Rock Industries, Inc. inaugurated its Panglao Water Desalination System last Friday in barangay Tawala, few meters away from Alona beach resort area.
Panglao Mayor Benedicto Alcala welcomed the development even as he bared that Bohol Water Utilities, Inc. (BWUI) is continuing its negotiations with the Baclayon local governance to source out water which will be pumped out to Panglao area.
"The water desalination is good enough while waiting for whatever development BWUI will make within the next six months," the mayor said.
Tony Tumpar, CEO of Mactan Rock told the Chronicle that this is not the first of its kind project they have made in the country. He assured that initial water output available is 300 cubic meters per day. If converted into resort usage, it can sufficiently supply water to 200 rooms. He said that resort owners who would be interested to avail of their services can apply starting tomorrow on a first come, first served basis.
The company is selling water at P28 per cubic meter which is a welcome note considering that the resorts are supplied by water deliveries from the city sold at P125 per cubic meter.
The company is willing to sell bulk supply to Panglao LGU which can handle the distribution system, Tumpar said.
