No less than eight resorts and bars have violated the 20-meter salvage zone and as a consequence were not issued their business permits by the office of the Panglao mayor.
Mayor Benedicto Alcala said that these establishments have not demolished structures which have violated the basic requirement of a 20-meter distance from the shorelines.
He identified these establishments as Oops Bar, Bohol Divers Resort, Genesis/Hayahay Resort, Trudis Place, Jasz Alonaville Bar & Resto, Alona Seaside Restaurant, Casanove Gift Shoppe & Resto and Dominguez Beach resort.
During a meeting called with officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) last week, Mayor Alcala issued his "final appeal" to resort/bar operators to voluntarily demolish their structures.
The local government has the police power to demolish structures within the 20-meter salvage zone, according to PENRO Edgardo Inting.
